The 4th Annual DMV Music Awards show made history in 2010 by bringing together various echelons of the independent entertainment community, all celebrating common desires –music, laughter, song, and self-expression. As stated, nearly 1,500 attendees paid homage and highlighted the achievements of local entertainers embracing genres from Hip Hop to Gospel, comedy, video/music production, spoken word and the needed support systems that make it possible – managers, retail stores, DJs, media and radio.
The Original DMV Music Awards were created to highlight and acknowledge the most talented and brightest entertainers in the Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia area. The show’s primary objective is to provide a positive, motivating and inspirational platform to publicly celebrate the tireless efforts of independent, local entertainers. The entertainers nominated are those who work to build exposure and to promote their talents as independents. As all entertainers know, fame just doesn’t happen over night. It takes hard work, determination, persistence and perseverance just to obtain notoriety in their immediate communities. These entertainers have accomplished grass root achievements of establishing a fan base and loyal audiences. Before taking over the national platform and reaching for international fame, the journey starts at home. The DMV Music Awards honor the efforts of these artists in the pursuit of their dreams and acknowledges their achievements throughout the year.
This exclusive red carpet affair underscores entertainers and artists in various award categories. Outlets such as radio stations, press/media, record and retail stores, as well as promoters, managers and DJs that support local artists are too honored for the work they do for the independent entertainment community. A distinguished panel of 21 judges from all over Maryland, DC, and northern Virginia areas select the
winners of each category. As in 2010, 2011’s voting panel will consist of an elite mixture of radio personalities, DJs and members of the press and
entertainment media. For the 2011 DMV Music Awards, we look to partner with major entertainment companies and media outlets, artists, and
entertainment power-players from the DMV area to celebrate with us.
